14TH PSPC Webinar: Focus on Pulmonary Hypertension

The Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology had its 14th webinar last November 26, 2020 with the theme: “THE FACETS OF PULMONARY HYPERTENSION IN CHILDREN: TO TREAT OR NOT TO TREAT? “.  The moderator of the activity was DR. MA.  THERESA C. ROSQUETA.

After the Invocation given by DR. MARIA ESTRELLITA A. ALARCON (newly-inducted PSPC Board Member), the DR. MARIA BERNADETTE A. AZCUETA (newly-inducted PSPC President) welcomed the participants of the webinar.

The main speaker was DR. JULIET J. BALDERAS who has been an extensive speaker and researcher on pediatric pulmonary hypertension. For the first part, she gave an  introduction on pulmonary hypertension and presented the 2019 Guidelines. DR. KRISTINE GAY S. TRIA then gave a case presentation on “Persistent Cyanosis on the First 6 hours of Life” followed by a lecture on “Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn” by Dr. Balderas.

A case series on “Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in Congenital Heart Disease: Pre- and Post-op” was  presented by DR. BABIE CATHERINE R. CAUSAPIN followed by a lecture on “PAH in Congenital Heart Disease” by Dr. Balderas.

After the lively open forum moderated by Dr. Rosqueta , a short talk was given by a Ms. CATHERINE H. TIBIGAR, Vice-President  for Sales and Marketing of McGRAW PHARMA INC., the sponsor for the webinar.  DR. JUAN G. REGANION gave some announcements about the society’s forthcoming activities in his closing remarks.
