2021 PHA Awardees

During the Opening Ceremonies of the 51st Annual Convention of the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) last May 24, 2021, there were three college (3) awardees who are distinguished members of the Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology (PSPC).

DR. ASUNCION A. RELOZA, Past PHA President (1995 – 1996), Past PSPC President (1996–1998) and Past Chair of the Specialty Board of Pediatric Cardiology,  was given the 2021 PRESIDENTIAL AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN CARDIOLOGY. 

Dr. Reloza received the Loyalty Award in 2004 and  the Distinguished Fellow Award in 2009.

DR. EDGARDO E. ORTIZ, also a Past PHA President (2001 – 2002) , Past PSPC President (1998-2000) and Past Chair of the SBPC was awarded the 2021 DISTINGUISHED FELLOW AWARD. The Distinguished Fellow Award is the most prestigious award and highest among the College Awards and is conferred to a Fellow of the college who has received any two of the college awards and is qualified to receive a third award. In lieu of the third award, the Distinguished Fellow Award is given.

Dr. Ortiz received the Distinguished Scientist Award in 2006 and the Distinguished Service Award in 2012.

DR. OLYMPIA Q. MALANYAON, a Past Chair of the Specialty Board of Pediatric Cardiology,  received the 2021 DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST AWARD. The award is given to an individual who must have contributed significant scientific knowledge in the field of cardiovascular diseases, pioneered in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the management of cardiovascular diseases or published original papers in reputable local and/or international journals.

You PSPC family is very proud of you Dr. Reloza, Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Malanyaon!!!
