PSPC featured in February PPS Scientific Activity

The Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology was invited by the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) Council on Continuing Professional Development- Committee on Scientific Meetings to host the scientific activity last February 27, 2020 held at the PPS auditorium.

PPS President DR. SALVACION GATCHALIAN personally welcomed the participants.

DR. REGENTE I. LAPAK stated in his talk on “Sudden Death Among Teens and Adults” that the most common cause of sudden death among athletes in this age group is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy with arrhythmias as the usual culprit. DR. JONNIE BOTE-NUÑEZ emphasized a good history and physical examination are essential aspects in  “Pre-participation Sports Clearance in Pediatrics” which she prefers to be labelled as “pre-participation evaluation”.   She believes that an ECG is a good adjunct in decision-making.

DR. MARIA RONELLA FRANCISCO-MALLARI introduced the speakers and acted as the moderator in the open forum.

The activity was simultaneously viewed in six (6) video conference sites:  Asian Hospital and Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, Las Piñas Doctors Medical Center, Medical Center Manila, UP-PGH and UPH-Las Piñas.  It was also given 3.0 PPS CPD units.
