2021 Induction of PSPC Fellows, Diplomates and Associate Members
To align with the re-classification of members based on the newly- ratified PSPC Constitution and By-Laws, a virtual induction ceremony of new Fellows, Diplomates, and Associate Members of the Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology was held last December 16, 2021.
The Academic Procession was led by DR. GILBERT C. VILELA (President, Philippine Heart Association 2021 – 2022) and DR. JOSELYN A. EUSEBIO (President, Philippine Pediatric Society 2020 – 20022), followed by the distinguished Past Presidents of the society and PSPC Officers 2020 – 2022.
PSPC Secretary DR. REGENTE I. LAPAK was the Master of the Ceremonies. The Invocation was given by DR. MARTHA SOCORRO M. SANTIAGO (PSPC Treasurer), followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, PHA Hymn, and the PPS Hymn. PSPC President DR. MARIA BERNADETTE A. AZCUETA gave the Opening Remarks followed by inspirational messages from Dr. G. Vilela and Dr. J. Eusebio.
DR. MARIA CORAZON A. ESTEVANEZ (Past PSPC President and Chair of the Membership Committee) initially presented the candidates for Emeritus Fellows who were then officially inducted by Dr. G. Vilela. The 15 newly-inducted PSPC Emeritus Fellows were DR. WILBERTO L. LOPEZ (PSPC Founding President 1992 – 1994), DR. ASUNCION A. RELOZA (President 1996 -1998), DR. EDGARDO E. ORTIZ (President 1998 – 2000), DR. TEOFILO CANTRE (President, 2000 – 2002), DR. MARIA LOURDES SR. CASAS (President 2002 – 2004), DR. MA. RHODORA G. DE LEON (President 2004 – 2006), DR. DELLA G. PELAEZ (President 2006 – 2008), DR. AURORA S. GAMPONIA (President 2008 – 2010), DR. MAGDALENA J. LAGAMAYO (President 2012 – 2014), DR. EDEN LATOSA (President, 2014 – 2016), DR. FAY LOPEZ-CHUA, DR. ZENNY A. PELI, DR. SIONNIE B. DYCHUTEE and DR. MANUEL E. VALDEZ.
The candidates for Fellows were then presented by Dr. C. Estevanez in batches: 13 graduates of the subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology from 1987 to 1996, 13 graduates from 1997 to 2000, 13 graduates from 2001 to 2003, 14 graduates from 2004 to 2007, 13 graduates from 2008 to 2013, and 11 graduates from 2014 to 2018. Dr. W. Lopez inducted the 77 new PSPC Fellows.
The candidates for Diplomates were likewise presented by Dr. C. Estevanes in batches: 10 graduates from 1998 to 2011, 11 graduates from 2012 to 2014, 9 graduates from 2015 to 2018, and 12 graduates from 2019 to 2021. Dr. B. Azcueta inducted the 42 new Diplomates.
The 10 candidates for Associate Members were presented by Dr. C. Estevanez and were officially inducted by Dr. B. Azcueta.
All the inductees recited their Pledge of Membership followed by the official conferment of their titles.
After the induction proper, plaques of appreciation were presented to the guests of honor and inducting officers Dr. G. Vilela, Dr. J. Eusebio, and Dr. W. Lopez. PSPC Vice-President DR. JUAN G. REGANION gave the closing remarks followed by a recitation of the society’s Mission and Vision and the singing of the PSPC Hymn.
